Federal Government Purchases N39 billion Fertilizers |

The Federal Government has purchased fertilizers worth N39 billion in preparation for the next farming season. This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Fatima Bamidele during the closing ceremony of 2010 National Agricultural Show in Tudun Wada, Nasarawa State.

Mrs. Bamidele said that the Federal Government was constructing 17 rice processing mills in the rice producing areas. She said that in order to curb the annual menace of farmers/pastoralists clashes, Federal Government had sunk a total of 59 motorized boreholes and opened nine earth dams in some selected parts of the country.

She continued that all these efforts were geared towards food security, job creation and the promotion of pastoral utilization in Nigeria.
