Groups Form Alliance on Rice Production

In a bid to find lasting solution to the rising cost of grains in the country, private sector groups have formed Rice Network Alliance (RNA). The facilitator and the Director General, Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Mr. Mansur Ahmed, disclosed this during the launch.

Mr. Ahmed said that the network would provide a platform to address challenges confronting the development of the sub ? sector and at the same time, maintain unbroken dialogue with stakeholders in government and private sector. He also noted that the network would make rice sub ? sector more competitive, profitable and sustainable through the implementation of its mission and programmes and more importantly arouse the interest of local and foreign investors into rice production in order to alleviate poverty, create employment and enhance food security in the country.

According to Mr. Ahmed, membership of the network is opened to all interested individuals, corporate persons, and institutions who have interest in the rice sector including farmers, rice processors, traders, service providers, importers, NGOs, policy advocate researchers, government agencies, the media, development partners, etc, from all part of Nigeria at Federal and state levels.
