Sorghum

Sorghum is one of the cereal crops widely grown in the Northern part of Nigeria. It grows well in areas with savannah vegetation, as it is drought resistant.

Variety
Two varieties of sorghum are grown in Nigeria viz: white and yellow sorghum. Sorghum is sold in almost all markets in the Northern part of the country.

Uses

Largely the tribes in the Northern part of Nigeria consume sorghum and also a

sizeable proportion of the output of commodity is used as animal feeds and for

production of liquor and food for infants

Production

Over ten tones of sorghum was produced in Nigeria in 2004.
