In a bid to ensure availability of high quality brands of fertilizers for Nigeria farmers so as to increase food production and cushion the effect of food crisis in the country, Federal Government through its quality certification agency, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has begun a review exercise in Abuja on the standards of fertilizers being imported and produced locally. Dr. Ndanusa Akanya, Director General of SON declared that the report of the review exercise would become a national document for assessing fertilizer quality as well as specification of various grades of the essential agro-input in the country.
