World Bank earmarks N800 million for food production |

World Bank has budgeted N800 million to boost food and provide social amenities across the 36 states of the federation for over five years under the Fadama Agricultural Project 111 in the country. This was disclosed to newsmen by the Kwara State Coordinator of the project, Mallam Usman Akanbi in Ilorin over the weekend. He added that the local governments where the project is located would pay a counterpart fund of N2 million on yearly basis while the benefiting communities would also pay 10 per cent of the entire sum of the project to be sited in their localities. Mallam Usman said that the project would boost food production and bring improvement into the socio-economic activities of the benefiting communities as well as enhancement of the living standard of the populace. He applauded the state governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki for paying the state counterpart funds to the project and urged local governments yet to pay their counterpart fund to do so. Source: Thisday.
